Shawnee County's largest and finest recreation spot, Lake Shawnee offers generous entertainment options for all. The centerpiece of the park is the lake, which stretches across 410 surface acres with about 2.75 billion gallons of water, providing a home for waterfowl and a popular destination for fishing, wind surfing, swimming and boating. The lake also can be enjoyed from picnic tables and shelters that surround the lake.
The park features a path that loops around the lake and other trails. Ted Ensley Gardens stretch 23 acres with water features, bridges, trees, shrubs and bright flowers -- making it a a popular spot for weddings and photos. The park also has an arboretum, 18-hole golf course, marina, campground, swimming beach with waterslides, lighted tennis courts, heated fishing dock and disc golf course.

Fantastic
If you can't find something to do at the Lake, you're definitely not trying. The golf course has been called the Pebble Beach of Kansas for good reason. It's beautiful! But so are the gardens!
Path
The concrete path around Lake Shawnee is one of my favorite spots to run.
