Expo sets public ice skating

September 17, 2010

The wait is over for those wanting to lace up their ice skates for several spins - and perhaps a few spills - on the ice at the Kansas Expocentre.

The first two-hour public ice skating session of the season will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Landon Arena followed by another at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $5 a session and sold starting 30 minutes before each session at the ground-level exit on the arena's southeast corner. Patrons can bring their own skates or can rent a pair for $2.

The Expocentre also is offering for $30 a discounted skate card good for five sessions with skate rental or seven session without skate rental. That's a $5 savings, and the card can be used for small groups, families or individuals who do a lot of skating.

Other scheduled skating sessions are:

Oct. 2: 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Oct. 3: 4 to 6 p.m.
Oct. 9: 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Oct. 10: 4 to 6 p.m.
Oct. 16: 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Oct. 17: 4 to 6 p.m.
Oct. 23: 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
More sessions will be scheduled on a month-by-month basis. Go to www.ksexpo.com and click on "Ice Calendar" for updates.
